LinDsey sucKS aT capITAlizATion

Helloooooo Monday!

I have returned from the road - but I'm still on vacation!!

::running man::

To start this week off I have a stupid cheap but very cool craft/educational project for the youngins  from my super wicked awesome pal, Ms Lindsey from Ot and Et.

Lindsey and I met on Twitter and I love her so. She is sickeningly sweet, stupid funny, birthed two gorgeous babies and loves avocados.

It's kismet.

And her boy, Otto, reminds me so much of my crazy kiddo, Kadyn, that I can't help but feel a little Mama connection. Those two would be blood brothers for lyfe, yo!

Little Loretta is still pretty newish and I haven't yet figured her out but she is crazy adorable and she has a big ol' bald head - in my books, that's money, folks.

If you've never been to Ot and Et, you must go. Now. Check it out. Lindsey's blog is brimming with awesomeness, cuteness, sweetness and laughs.

And holy cow am I talking this lady up or what!?!?

Let's get to it!

first off i want to thank Rebecca for this opportunity to guest post.

Rebecca is the bomb diggity and i love love love her and am so grateful to The Twitter for bringing us together! someday i hope we are able to get our weird children together and then record their ridiculous conversations while drinking [[insert all kinds of booze and grape flavoured beer]] and all of this at a metallica concert while getting massages and eating avocado mashed on pizza.

xo Lindsey

this is my 3 1/2 year old, Otto...

he is a goofball and a goosebump and he never fails to keep me on my toes. lately it's been pretty awesome to see that he has a deep interest in letters, words, and reading. he's always loved being read to, but now he's constantly asking me how to spell everything, or pointing at words on signs or in books and asking what they say. he loves workbooks for preschool and kindergarteners but i was trying to think of a non-workbook thing we could do that would let him mess around with spelling and letters. here's what i came up with and it's been a lot of fun...

so simple and fun! i've been collecting "ransom note" letters since Ot was a wee little guy. something i do while he's doing crafts is often just page through our magazines and cut out the big letters for our "LETTERS" bag. i always figured they'd come in useful eventually and now they have.

so far we've worked on sorting/finding letters as well as spelling out different words. it's been really helpful for Otto in working on identifying the letters even when they're slightly different fonts or colors.

he likes to ask me how to spell words so i'll write it out on a paper (ex. "MOMMY") and then he tries to find the letters in the pile (usually i'll curate the pile down so he doesn't have to look too hard - last thing i want is to create a project for him that's frustrating!) and then it's gluestick party time!

easy, cheap, and learning! those are kind of my goals in parenting so yeah, i consider this a win ;)

So how annoyed are you at Lindsey's complete disregard for proper capitalization?

But cool project idea, right?

I have stacks and stacks and stacks of magazines - time to start clipping!

You? Go visit Ms Lindsey

I have to launder like a mad woman and pack for the lake!!
