Party Hangover

So this kid....

...is FIVE.

Isn't he gorgeous?

I love his face so much.

(and the rest of him, too)

We pretty much celebrated Kadyn's birthday the entire weekend and I am EXHAUSTED! Still today!!

Or maybe this is how nervous breakdowns start.

Cause I'm not sure if I can handle being Mama to a FIVE year old.

I know. Stop being so dramatic!!

Five is hard for me. Way harder than one ever was.

Anyway enough whining.

Friday was Kadyn's birthday. We celebrated with dinner out at one of Kadyn's favourite restaurants followed by a full-out family assault, Nerf style.

(I am COMPLETELY against toy weapons but am a bit of a hypocrite about Nerf guns. Sigh.....)

(I mean, have you ever shot your kid with a Nerf gun? It shouldn't be as satisfying as it is. It really, really shouldn't.)

Saturday morning we did birthday haircuts.

(We cut Graysen's hair. I can't talk about it yet.)

We visited with family in the afternoon, then combo'd Kadyn's birthday with Cinco de Mayo and celebrated with burritos and Beastie Boys videos.

Kadyn fist pumping around the house while yelling "HEY LADIES" was definitely a highlight.

Also, in case you were wondering, Kadyn has a really hard time saying "Intergalactic Planetary, Planetary Intergalactic."

Hee hee hee

Sunday was PARTY DAY!

I feel like I completely cheaped out.

We went from a superhero party to a soldier party to a bowling party. This is the first time I haven't thrown the boys a 'hall party' for their birthday.

Instead I called up a bowling alley and made a reservation.

I'm not gonna lie - it was stupid easy, crazy cheap, NO effort and all the kids had a blast.

But I didn't really do anything.

I don't even know why I'm complaining.

We bought Kadyn a Nintendo DS for his birthday and I am pretty happy to say Kadyn didn't even know what it was.

Every other kid at the party knew what it was - and had one of their own - while Kadyn was clueless.

I don't know if I should be as proud as I am that Kadyn made it to 5 years old having hardly played any video games at all - so little, in fact, that he doesn't even know what any gaming systems are called, but I very much am. And, during the after party free for all (where we open and play with ALL the presents) Kadyn was much more interested in building with his new Trio blocks than playing the DS.

I loved that.

Ryan and I are ironing out the last details of the DS Rules so I'm fairly confident Kadyn won't become a vegetative vidiot.

And now we're done for another year.

And I have a five year old.

Excuse me while I go cry in my vodka.
