Conversations with Kadyn...

We wake Kadyn up to go to the bathroom before we go to bed.

(The kid sleeps like the dead have died and gone to sleep)

We have an elaborate lighting scheme so that we can all see what we're doing without Kadyn being blinded.

We turn on the bathroom light leave the door open just a few inches.

We wake Kadyn up, walk him to the bathroom door where we simultaneously turn off the bathroom light, shove Kadyn into the bathroom and turn on the hall light.

It's all very intricately choreographed.

One particular night a few weeks ago Graysen woke up just as we were going to wake Kadyn. I got Graysen back to sleep fairly quickly but we wouldn't be able to wake Kadyn right away or he would wake Graysen again.

Turns out Graysen wasn't really back asleep.

Ryan and I divided and conquered.

He took Graysen, I took Kadyn.

I woke Kadyn up, walked him to the bathroom and saw that Ryan hadn't completely closed Graysen's door. If I turned on the hall light, it would shine right into Graysen's room.

I took my chances and just turned off the bathroom light.

Kadyn started to pee but it didn't sound like it was hitting the water so I turned on the hall light hoping luck would be on my side and it wouldn't disturb Graysen.

Kadyn, as he is peeing, sleepily and sadly says to me, "Mama, I peed all over the toilet.......... And THAT is what I call communicating."

Well, alright then.
