(Last) First Haircut
A little over a year ago I wrote my favorite post so far.
I wrote about all the last firsts I would have with Graysen.
A few weeks ago, we had our last first haircut.
*Moment of silence, please.*
*sniff, sniff*
*Uncontrollable sobbing*
I didn't want to do it. But the kid walks into walls enough on his own without his blonde locks covering his gorgeous little eyes. Plus I didn't want a repeat of Kadyn's mullet (which I was in COMPLETE denial about until I saw him after his haircut. Oops!)
A before shot with Graysen's "I know you're taking me to that place where I have to wear a ridiculous cape and let some woman cut my hair" face:
I adore that face.
We took Graysen to the same place we take Kadyn and to the same stylist.
Kadyn also had an appointment that day.
And I would like to emphatically point out that Kadyn picked out a Cars car/chair to sit in, hopped in, put on a cape and sat for almost his entire haircut!! He gets anxious and fidgety when the clippers come out but covering his eyes still works (and still CRACKS me up) so we go with it!
No more shrieking and vaccination holds to cut Kadyn's hair! High 5!!!
I told Keri (our super awesome stylist) that I really didn't want to cut Graysen's hair but it was severely in his eyes and was getting a little crazy in a soon-to-be-mullet sort of way.
Exhibit A:
Graysen did suprisingly well.... with a little bit of distraction....
(And some bubbles and just a smidge of being pinned down in the chair. Just a smidge.)
Look at my gorgeous boy now!!

Sometimes the front gets perfectly swept to the side and I melt into a giant puddle of dying from cute.

G Week
Alright.
Time to get back on the wagon.
I really do miss writing and I've got about 9658 posts swimming around in my head. Of course, when I actually go to write them, they will all run away into the dark abyss that is my brain (as of late anyway.) And I'm far too flaky to write any of them down.
Really someone needs to invent some sort of device that connects my brain to a computer so my internal word vomit can have some sort of purpose. Or something.
Anyway.....
Since I am such a horrible mother and I blog failed HARD right after Graysen's first birthday, I am declaring this week G WEEK.
All Graysen.
All the time.
Today, a recap of the par-tay.
There isn't really a whole lot to recap.
(Or maybe it's just Alzheimer's...)
I don't do themes or activities at first birthdays. I mean the kid is ONE. We just hang out and eat cake. And so, instead of a theme, we do colors. Graysen's were lime green, royal purple and bright orange.
I loved it!
And I love the tie dye!!!
The tie dye was a product of the last ladies weekend at the cabin. (We also dyed little T's for the party guest's goodie bag) I HIGHLY recommend getting your hippy on if given that chance. It was a blast!
I also color coordinated the food.
Cause that's how I roll.
I served green spinach dip with purple tortillia chips, orange Ritz crackers and cheese with ham and turkey sausage (which I did consider dying green. Yes, yes I did) and a fruit tray with red and purple grapes and canteloupe melon. For bevvies, I served orange juice, limeade and cran-grape juice.
Not gonna lie, the color coordinating food made my heart smile.
As did Graysen and his cake.
Why are there no pictures of him before he smashed the cake to smitherines, you ask?
Well, there simply wasn't time.
Do you see two forks in that boy's hands???
That child would have dove head first into the entire cake given the chance.
Polar opposite of Kadyn who got one spot of icing on his finger and shrieked until Ryan cleaned him up.
And that's about all there is to say about the party.
We came, we ate cake, we left.
GOOD TIMES!!!
And now I have a 1 year old. Who is now almost 15 months.
AH!!
(Stay tuned later in the week for a killer video from the party.)

Getting Carded
People.
I am half done my Christmas shopping.
I STARTED CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN SEPTEMBER!!!
I don't know what's wrong with me. I usually don't start anything Christmas related until December. But I'm diggin' this early start. I'm hoping to be finished shopping by December 1 so that I have the entire month free for crafting, baking and fun stuff.
Sounds dreamy, right?
I have to admit, however, that I am more than perturbed at all the Christmas swag up and out in stores BEFORE Halloween.
Can we get through a holiday before getting on the next one, corporate world?
In addition to getting my shopping done early, I plan to also finish my holiday cards early.
I was very impressed with the cards we ordered from Shutterfly last year and so, over the past few days, I've been browsing through this year's designs.
I've narrowed it down to 539 options.
Yup. Just 539.
Ok, that might just be the results after narrowing down the size and type of card. But seriously, I have to choose ONE card from 539 options??
Good thing I'm starting now.
I haven't taken the pictures for the card so I'm not sure of the feel I'm going for yet. Tons of inspiration to be had at Shutterfly!
Here are a couple designs that caught my eye:

Shutterfly also offers calendars (Here) and other photo gifts. (Here) These are so great for the holidays - budget friendly yet thoughtful and personal. We've been giving calendars, framed kid art and pictures to famliy for the last couple years and they are always a huge hit!

(Disclosure – I am participating in Shutterfly's Holiday Promotion. I received compensation this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.)

The Best Halloween in the West!
Look at these two!
The cuteness is just ridiculous!
Cowboy Kadyn!
The roughest, toughest cowboy in the west!

Chief Graysen!
The Littlest Indian
And.......THE LOOT!

I love Halloween!
A post script:
Dear Trick or Treaters:
Next year I will be imposing a height maximum. Should you wish to contest this rule, please bring proof of age. I will also be imposing a costume requirement. Please note: a scary mask does not qualify as a suitable costume.
Also I will have a separate bowl for the too old, the costume-less and the rude. It will contain pencils, toothbrushes and travel toiletries.
Muahahahahahaha!
